Huskers Travel to Colorado for Two Matches

The No. 14 Nebraska rifle team heads to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend to face Air Force, Kentucky and UTEP after two weeks off.

The No. 14 Nebraska rifle team heads to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend to face Air Force, Kentucky and UTEP after two weeks off. The Wildcats and Falcons are currently third and fourth, respectively, in the CRCA Top 20 poll, while the Miners are ranked No. 19. Match action is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT on Oct. 26 against all three opponents. On Sunday, the Huskers will face Air Force beginning at 9 a.m. CT.

Last Time Out

Nebraska took the range on Oct. 12 and fell to top-ranked West Virginia at the Nebraska Rifle Range. The match finished 4,719-4,642. Sophomore Elena Flake tied the school record in air rifle with a score of 597 but the Huskers couldn't overcome the Mountaineers.

Scouting Kentucky

The Wildcats last competed on Oct. 19, when they beat Morehead State and Murray State. Kentucky fired a team score of 8,200 under a modified scoring system, led by freshman Mary Tucker firing a 598 in air rifle and 588 in smallbore. The Wildcats now have a 3-0 record this season. The shooters to watch are Tucker and sophomore Richard Clark. Both set career bests last weekend.

Scouting Air Force   

The Falcons have yet to compete this season after finishing third at the 2019 NCAA Championships. The shooters to watch for Air Force are sophomore Peter Fiori and junior Logan Ogden, who were both key contributors for the Falcons at the NCAA Championships last season.

Scouting UTEP

The Miners hold a 0-2 record this season after two losses to Alaska. The shooters to watch for UTEP are sophomore Morgahn Warner and senior Mara Rouse.
