COLUMBUS - One of Central Community College's campuses celebrated a golden milestone Thursday.
CCC's Columbus campus is honoring the campus' history as it recognizes its 50th anniversary. The college set up memorabilia, photos and invited alumni to the campus for a celebration.
"We started in a wheat field of just 96 acres here north of Columbus and our original windmill that was on that wheat field is now just west of our campus," CCC Columbus campus president Dr. Kathy Fuscher said. "So it is quite the heritage, and we are proud to have been part of this community for 50 years.
The Columbus campus of CCC broke ground in 1968 and a year later opened as Platte Junior College. It was the first county-supported college in the state's history
