SHELBY, NE -- Three juveniles from Omaha are facing charges after authorities say they led troopers on a multi-county chase in a stolen car.

A news release from the Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper attempted to stop a car for a defective tail light around 7:40 Tuesday night near Shelby. The Patrol says the car fled before the trooper could make contact.  A dispatcher told the trooper the car was stolen.

The release says the car fled on county roads before heading west on Highway 92 and reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

The patrol says the vehicle attempted to hit the trooper's patrol car. The trooper then performed a tactical vehicle intervention. The patrol says the car then drove through a cornfield near Central City before crashing into irrigation piping.

The driver was lodged in the Butler County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, stolen property and other charges. One juvenile was returned to Douglas County Youth Services. A third was cited and released on drug charges and returned home.
