HASTINGS - The trial for one of the people accused of shooting and killing a Hastings man in 2017 is set to begin Tuesday.

Daniel Harden is being charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony and conspiracy to commit a robbery in connection with the death of Jose Hansen.

His trial begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Adams County District Court.

Deante Mullen, 20, and Katherine Creigh, 22, are also being charged in connection with the victim's death. They won't go on trial until later.

Mullen is charged with murder and weapons charges. Creigh is being charged with felony accessory to the victim's murder.

Here's a timeline of events:

September 10-11, 2017:
-Harden, Mullen and Creigh were at a house party the evening of September 10. Reports show drugs were involved.

-Court documents show Mullen talked about finding someone to rob.

-The report shows multiple phone calls exchanged between one of the suspects and murder victim just a few hours before he died.

September 11, 2017:
-A couple goes on a walk and find Hansen's body in an alley in the 700 block of West G Street between Hastings and Lincoln Avenues in South Hastings.

- Police arrived around 6 a.m. They found Hansen had a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Court records verify Hansen died from the gunshot wound.

December 22, 2017:
-Police arrest Harden, Mullen and Creigh in connection with the death of the murder victim.

December 27, 2017
-The suspects appear in Adams County Court for arraignment. Each plead not guilty to their charges.

August 20, 2019
-Prosecutors add the conspiracy charge for Harden. They said he communicated with others to set up a drug deal where he intended to rob the murder victim.

Harden is the first of the three suspects to go on trial.

If convicted on the murder and weapons charges, he could get life in prison. A conviction on the conspiracy charge carries a max penalty of 50 years in prison.
