Huskers Set for Under Armour Pre-Nationals

Nebraska will continue cross country action this Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
The men's team will run in the 8K "Blue" race at 10:35 a.m. (CT). The women's squad will compete in the 6K "White" race at 11:15 a.m. (CT). Live coverage of the Under-Armour Pre-Nationals will be provided by FloTrack and available with the purchase of a subscription.
 
Last Time Out
A pair of weather delays forced the Huskers to pull out of the Rim Rock Classic, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 in Lawrence, Kan. Nebraska joined up with Nebraska Wesleyan and ran time trials against each other in Auburn, Neb. before returning to Lincoln. The time trials were timed and scored, so it counted as an impromptu dual meet for each school, dubbed the Small Town Showdown.
 
Nebraska claimed both team crowns. The Husker men finished with 19 points in the four-mile race to win the meet, while the Prairie Wolves finished with 44 points. On the women's side, the Big Red women won the three-mile course with a total of 17 points, compared to Nebraska Wesleyan finishing with 45 points. Jordan De Spong captured the men's title with a time of 19:50.0 and Judi Jones took the women's crown in a time of 16:34.0.
 
Several Huskers had great performances at the Small Town Showdown and the meet was used to determine who would make the cut to go to the Under Armour Pre-Nationals.

The Husker men placed 22nd in the 8K "White" race with 542 points, while the women finished 28th in the 6K "White" race with 671 points. The top Huskers on the men's side were George Kusche (24th; 24:15.3) and Mark Freyhof (50th; 24:38.2). Erika Freyhof (55th; 21:17.9) and Judi Jones (94th; 21:45.1) led the women's team.
