'Lily's Flowers and Gifts' merges with 'Magical Memories' to become 'Pictures and Petals' in downtown Fairbury
FAIRBURY - A couple of local businesses in the Fairbury area are now one new business under one roof.
Lacey Schoenbeck had worked at Lily's Flowers and Gifts for about 4.5 years before it closed on June 30. She had also been doing her own photography business since 2002.
With a desire to continue feeding those passions, Schoenbeck merged Lily's Flowers with her photo business, Magical Memories, to open Pictures & Petals on D Street in downtown Fairbury.
"It's a lot of work to rebrand a business," she said. "So, I figured now was the time. New location. New name. Just a fresh start, and now I only have one business to keep track of since it's all under one name."
Schoenbeck's new location, a space next to Jalisco's Mexican Restaurant which had been vacant for some time, was recommended to her by a friend in mid-June. She opened for business on Sept. 3.
She said the natural light, the large picture window in the front and the exposed brick walls all made the new shop an appealing spot.
"I'm just excited to be here," Schoenbeck smiled. "I really love the location, the building and the window light. Just excited to be fully up and running again."
Schoenbeck provides a variety of services with Pictures & Petals. She's done senior pictures, baby pictures, family portraits and plenty more. She'll also make floral arrangements for just about any occasion, like birthdays and anniversaries. There's also gifts, decorations and knick knacks left over from Lily's that she's selling in the new shop.
Soon, she'll resume "Wishing Wednesday," where one bouquet will be donated every Wednesday to a person or party that's nominated by someone else. The recipient of that bouquet will be featured on the Pictures & Petals Facebook page.
"People keep watching me all the time for that," Schoenbeck said. "They want to see that post and nominate their friends and family to win that bouquet every week."
