BELLEVUE - An Omaha suburb is planning to scrap bicycle lanes along one of its main thoroughfares in favor of more lanes for cars.
The Associated Press says Bellevue plans to spend $20,000 this fall to restore Fort Crook Road to 6 lanes of traffic. The City spent $50,000 in 2013 to convert 2 lanes for cars into bicycle lanes.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation also contributed $250,000 to the project. City Administrator Jim Ristow says the bike lanes didn't get much use, and tended to confuse drivers.
