Case of mumps confirmed at center near UNO

OMAHA - The St. John Paul the Second Newman Center near the University of Nebraska Omaha said a resident at the facility has been diagnosed with the mumps.

In a news release Frida, the center said it's taking precautions to minimize it spreading.

The Newman Center said it reached out to all colleges and universities represented in its community to assist students, faculty and staff with questions or concerns.

The center houses 131 students who attend higher education institutions throughout the area, and it is reaching out to those institutions to minimize any other exposure.

The center said it's encouraging all students and visitors to practice good hygiene, limit physical contact and cover coughs and sneezes.
