Saturday Night Storm Line Across Southeast Nebraska
BEATRICE – Severe thunderstorms formed in an east to west line across southeast Nebraska, Saturday night. The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings that affected Fillmore, Thayer, Saline, Jefferson, Gage and Lancaster Counties, between 9 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.
Vivid lightning and quarter to golf ball-sized hail was reported across southeastern counties.
Two rounds of hail from separate storms was reported around the Bruning area….at one point, up to golf-ball sized stones. Quarter-sized hail was reported by weather spotters at Daykin and nickel-sized hail near Jewell, Kansas.
The National Weather Service also issued a flood advisory into early Sunday morning, for heavy rain that fell with the storms. One to three inches of rain was reported in northern Thayer and southern Fillmore Counties, falling in about 90 minutes.
