LINCOLN - The Nebraska State Penitentiary is no longer on lockdown.

According to a news release from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, officials say even though the lockdown status is lifted, the prison will remain on modified operations at least through the weekend.

This means outside visits to the facility will continue to be canceled, but will allow inmates to have some controlled movement outside of their cells.

The lockdown was imposed on Wednesday so intensive searches could be conducted of cells, restrooms, dayrooms and other spaces.
