If you're in the Columbus area, you have an opportunity this weekend to have some fun for a good cause.

Fifty-eight-year-old Duane Smith has brain cancer and Tom and Kim Grubaugh of the Lone Star Bar are hosting a poker run benefit for him.

The 130-mile run happens Sunday. It starts and ends at the Lone Star Bar, which is southwest of Columbus.

The Grubaughs said they don't know Duane personally, but that it's important to help others who need it.

“It’s just a tremendous drain on everything to make it through the fight for cancer," Tom said. "So if we can help them out with paying for it, that just takes a lot of emotional strain off of the whole family.”

"It wouldn’t matter if it was Duane or who it was," Kim said. "We’d move heaven and earth to help them because, like Tom said, it’s hard.”

The event will also include live music, pizza, drinks and a silent auction.

A portion of the proceeds will go to Duane's expenses. Again, the event happens Sunday. Registration is at 10 a.m. and is $25 per person. The run starts at 11 a.m.
