FAIRBURY - The Kids Connection Learning Center in Fairbury held an open house on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m.

The open house was organized to commemorate four staff members who recently completed training in using the Pyramid Model - a framework of practices for promoting young children’s social and emotional skills.

Rooted in Relationships, an initiative through the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, provided materials and coaches to help teach staff at Kids Connection all about the Pyramid Model.

Karren Housa, the director at Kids Connection, says the program that her staff members just completed was a year-long, and included thorough coaching and training.

Kids Connection, housed in an old school building at 4th and L in Fairbury, has been around for 20 years. Housa says it provides a great service for a community like Fairbury that lacks day care centers.

"We're a very quality daycare," she said. "I've met a number of in-home daycare providers, who are great to network with. But, Fairbury is definitely in need of some quality daycare, and I think Kids Connection is a great spot."

Kids Connection partners with Blue Valley Community Action Partnership to provide childcare for kids ages six months all the way up to 13 years old.
