UPDATE: Man who assaulted Lincoln officer is identified

A man suspected of assaulting a Lincoln Police officer as been identified.

LINCOLN - A man suspected of assaulting a Lincoln Police officer as been identified.

Authorities say 26-year-old Law Paw of Lincoln has been arrested for 1st-degree assault on a police officer.

Police say officers were called to 19th and G Streets just before 8:00 pm Tuesday on a report of people doing drugs.

The officer saw a man walking away and told him to stop. Officers say the man didn't comply.

The officer caught up to the man near 21st and F Streets. Police say when the officer tried to take the man into custody he was elbowed in the face.

Police say the officer was treated for significant facial injuries. He's since been released from the hospital.
