BEATRICE – Lightning hitting a house sent Beatrice Firefighters to the eleven-hundred block of Union Street this morning.

Captain Craig Fisher says the lightning strike reportedly traveled inside the home, doing damage to the electronics of an oven.  There was no fire and no injury to anyone..

The lightning strike happened at around 3:45 Wednesday morning as storms with heavy rain and intense lightning moved through the Beatrice area.

Firefighters were also sent to St. Joseph’s Catholic School for an alarm that may have been set off by lightning.  At 7:37 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to the eighteen hundred block of High Street where a wind gust tossed a trampoline onto some wires.

Officials summoned a Beatrice Board of Public Works electric crew as a precaution, but the trampoline was laying over cable television wires, and there was not an electricity threat.

No one was injured.
