PETERSBURG - The Boone Central School District will be officially centrally located in Albion beginning in 2021.

The Boone Central School Board last week voted five to one to close the Petersburg Middle School and have all middle schoolers begin to attend classes in Albion beginning in the 2021-22 school year.

In the text included in the motion, the school board cited the cost of improving the conditions of the current school in Petersburg as a major reason for the move.

Board Member Karrie Fogleman was the only board member to vote against closing the Petersburg School.
