LINCOLN - Dawson County is now eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.

In a news release from the Nebraska Department of Labor, Commissioner John Albin says
the filing deadline for assistance is September 13th.

Residents who live in or worked in Dawson County, and whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted as a direct result of flooding in the state may qualify.

The filing deadline has passed for 28 other counties, which were previously declared eligible.

Applicants should file an unemployment claim online and will be required to provide documents to verify wages.

Individuals can generally receive up to 28 weeks of benefits as long as unemployment continues to be a result of the disaster.
