SCOTTSBLUFF - A Nebraska Panhadle Airport has hit a milestone to qualify for federal aid.

Western Nebraska Regional Airport has hit the required $10,000 boarding number to become eligible for $1 million in federal funding for qualified airport projects.

Airport Manager Raul Aguallo tells KNEB Radio that passengers have shown confidence in the airline and the airport and returned to flying out of Scottsbluff.

Prior to SkyWest taking over the route the airport struggled to hit those required numbers.

Aguallo expects to hit 15,000 to 16,000 passengers by the end of the year.
