MADISON COUNTY - The Madison County Sheriff Department will be participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.

The campaign kicks off August 16th and runs until September 2nd with a driving under the influence checkpoint.

From 9 PM until midnight starting August 16th, the Madison County Sheriff Department will hold a high visibility checkpoint and patrols near the Cowboy Trail parking lot and Broken Bridge Road South of Norfolk.

Authorities say the mission is to hold impaired drivers accountable.

They say last year, 33% of Nebraska’s fatal crashes involved alcohol, a 30% increase since 2017.
