ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Omaha Storm Chasers seized control early at the plate and on the mound, and they cruised to a 9-2 victory in the opener of a three-game series with the Round Rock Express on Tuesday night.

Kyle Zimmer pitched three scoreless innings, and the Chasers took advantage at the plate to jump to an early lead.

Zimmer retired the first six batters he faced before Ryan O’Hearn hit a two-run double in the top of the third for a 3-0 lead. The Chasers tacked on two more runs in the fourth.

Jake Kalish took over for Zimmer in the fourth and went five innings for the win. He allowed two runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout.

O’Hearn added a solo homer in the fifth to answer Round Rock’s first run, and Omaha added two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth on Jorge Bonifacio’s 16th home run of the season.
