WILBER - Facing elimination, the No. 2 seed Tecumseh Post 2 Seniors (14-9) knocked off No. 1 seed BDS 7-3 on Tuesday night at Wilber Legion Memorial Park.
Tecumseh will now face Wymore (5-9) on Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. for a chance to play BDS (14-7) in the Class C area 4 district championship at 7:30 p.m.
Kolt Davis will the Post 2 seniors to victory, tossing a full game striking out eight batters and walking no one.
He was maxed out on 115 pitches, but a pop fly with two runners on in the bottom of the seventh sealed the deal.
"I just wanted to throw strikes and get outs," Davis said after. "That's all that was on my mind. I felt good. I wanted to get out there and finish it out."
Offensively, Davis got the scoring started in the top of the first. After he reached on a single, and RBI single by his brother, Kade, brought in the first run.
BDS grabbed a 2-1 lead after the fourth inning, but Tecumseh took the lead for good in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs on four hits and a BDS error.
The BDS seniors got a run back in the sixth, but Tecumseh struck back with three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Tecumseh led 4-3 in the seventh with two outs and one on, but two singles, two wild pitches, a walk and a passed ball allowed three runs to come in.
Kade Davis led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. His brother Kolt scored two runs while walking twice, reaching on an error once and stealing three bases.
Tecumseh outhit BDS Tuesday, 11-5.
"It's a good team win," Post 2 head coach Todd Dierberger said. "Our boys came in as the No. 2 seed, and we had the very tough loss to Adams (in the first round). That loss brought us together as a team.
"We lost one of our captains (Kole Kleespies), our starting catcher in the first game against Geneva in the second game of the season, and he's out with a hurt knee, but we've done nothing but step up. We're excited about how we're playing right now."
John Christensen was solid at the plate for BDS, going 3-for-3 with a run scored, a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases, but the rest of his team struggled to get into a rhythm.
No other BDS senior had multiple hits, and they were retired in order in the second, third and fifth innings.
Tecumseh still needs to win twice Wednesday to reach the state tournament in Syracuse, but just as they did Tuesday, the Post 2 Seniors will take things one game at a time.
"You never count out Wymore," Dierberger said. "They are playing their best baseball at this time of the season, and it's going to take our best effort to compete with them. We just have to believe in ourselves and believe in our teammates."
Wymore 8 Adams-Sterling 4
Wymore opened up an 8-1 lead after the second inning. Adams-Sterling rallied with three runs in the top of the fifth, but got no closer.
Cooper Ebeling tossed a complete game for Wymore, striking out seven batters and walking none. Conner Klecan led Wymore at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
Each team finished with six hits and two errors. The Post 221 Hellcats entered the tournament with just one win. After wins over Tecumseh and Utica-Beaver Crossing, Adams-Sterling ends the season at 3-17.
