NEBRASKA CITY - Qwin Zaborotsky and Peyton Murphy combined for a five-inning, two-hit shutout and the Beatrice American Legion Baseball team defeated Falls City, 10-0, in the first round of the Class B Area 1 Tournament Friday afternoon at Clemmy Holmes Field in Nebraska City.

Zaborotsky took the win. He surrendered no runs on two hits over four innings, striking out five. Murphy threw one inning of relief.

Beatrice jumped on the Blue Storm early with six runs in the first inning, including a home run from Brody Nelson. Austin Burroughs, Zach Zimmerman and Sean Pinkerton also had RBI's in the frame. Zimmerman finished with three RBI's.

Beatrice totaled ten hits in the game. William Reimer went 2-3 with a double and three runs scored.

Kade Bredemeier was charged with the loss. He gave up eight runs on nine hits over two and two-thirds innings.

Beatrice will play the winner of Hickman in the second round on Saturday at 5 p.m. Falls City falls to the consolation bracket and will play Lincoln Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday on B103 (103.1 FM, b103.fm).

Hickman 8, Lincoln Christian 0 (5 innings): Hickman's Gavin Dowding threw a complete game shutout, giving up just one hit and striking out five. Connor Price went 3-4 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs.
