NORFOLK, NE - The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory warning for this Wednesday through Friday.  With record-high temperatures, this might be the perfect place for you and your family to cool off.

Region 11 Emergency Manager and paramedic, Bobbi Risor, shared some tips on how to avoid the dangers that come with the heat…

“Stay hydrated…that's the most important thing." Risor says. "Drink as much water as you possibly can. Sometimes you think you’re hydrated, but you still need more. If you start feeling dizzy or overheated, get in the shade, get into air conditioning and drink more water. If it gets to be a concern for you, you can seek medical attention and just be aware.”

In Omaha, temperatures could increase to 100 degrees with a heat index of 110.  If this happens, it will mark as Omaha’s hottest span of days since 2012.

Risor advises to stay hydrated during these days and shares symptoms of a heat stroke.

“Heat stroke is when you pretty much stop sweating. You’re going to have severe symptoms where you’re not making any sense. People can watch for that kind of thing, but the biggest tip off is the stopping of sweating.”

Risor adds that this can be a very serious situation, but it can be avoided by taking precaution and following the tips that she shared.
