Nebraskans Injured in Van, Semitrailer Collision in Kansas

Six persons injured in Marshall County, Kansas highway intersection crash

BEATRICE - Several occupants of a van had minor injuries when their vehicle collided with a semitrailer truck, Sunday afternoon, south of Beattie, Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the Chevrolet Express Van, driven by 27-year-old Patrice Nunez Periss-Mone of Junction City, Kansas was southbound on Kansas Highway 99.  Authorities said she failed to yield to a semitrailer truck driven by 49-year-old Brion Hand, of Idaho Falls, Idaho.  

The van collided with the eastbound truck on U.S. Highway 36.

Periss-Mone and four passengers in the van had minor injuries and were taken to Community Memorial Healthcare in Marsyville. 

The injured passengers were 24-year-old Thomas Smithsaunsoci, ….3-year-old Sirina Nyes, ….20-year-old Maria Franco, ….and 1-year-old Everett Smithsaunsoci.  All are from Winnebago, Nebraska.  A fifth passenger was not injured.

The truck driver, Hand…was not injured.  The K-H-P says all of those involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts or were properly restrained, in a car seat.
