Drenching Rains, Brief Tornado Hit South Central Nebraska

BEATRICE - Witnesses reported a brief rope tornado about three miles south of Roseland, Nebraska in Adams County, last night. A strong thunderstorm line moved across southern Nebraska counties, dropping heavy amounts of rain in numerous locations.
The Hastings Office of the National Weather Service says the rope tornado touched down, briefly.
Weather observers reported over nine inches of rain falling northwest of Elwood, while eight to eight-and-a-half inches of rain was recorded near Riverdale. Reports of six to seven inches of rain were received from spotters near Odessa, Elm Creek, Loomis, Elwood and Johnson Lake.
Four to five inches of rain fell near Ravenna, Atlanta, Oxford and Arapahoe.
Strong winds accompanied the storms in south-central Nebraska. Observers reported some tree damage in Buffalo County, southwest of Elm Creek. Large trees were broken and caused some power outages in Webster County, at Guide Rock.
