Charges Filed Against Broken Bow Mayor

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office has officially filed charges against Broken Bow Mayor Jonathon Berghorst stemming from an incident on April 6, 2019.

BROKEN BOW (Gavin Higgins/Sandhills Express) - The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office has officially filed charges against Broken Bow Mayor Jonathon Berghorst stemming from an incident on April 6, 2019.

According to court documents, Berghorst has formally been charged with one count of accused 3rd-Degree assault (class I misdemeanor) and one count of accused oppression under color of office (class II misdemeanor).

Court documents show that on April 6, 2019 Berghorst allegedly caused bodily injury to Riley Royle.

Later that day, Berghorst allegedly threatened Broken Bow Police Officer David Taylor's job for investigating the incident.

Berghorst will now appear in Custer County Court for his first appearance on August 5 at 10:00 AM.

Berghorst’s attorney was not immediately available for comment.
