Nebraska City Fire Under Investigation
Firefighters Found Door Unlocked At House

NEBRASKA CITY – A Wednesday morning fire at an unoccupied house in Nebraska City is under investigation.
Neighbors say the house near Third Street and Fifth Corso has not had anyone living in it for a number of years, but the front door was unlocked when firefighters arrived.
Schreiner: “We thought that it was in the attic. They went in through and found it in a room in there. Put a little water on it and then we did a little mop up, brought everything out and then called the investigator.”
The state fire marshal’s office has been called to determine a cause of the fire.
County records say the house is owned by Blake Osborn. New windows had been installed in 2017.
