NORFOLK -- Police have released new information about a severe crash in Norfolk from early Sunday morning.

Norfolk Police Captain Mike Bauer says the accident happened just after 1:30 a.m. on S 1st St. near the intersection with Pasewalk Ave. He says two vehicles were speeding southbound when 29-year-old Kwamel Ross lost control of his vehicle, hit the curb and then over corrected. The vehicle swerved across the northbound lanes and hit a tree.

An unnamed passenger was injured and airlifted to a Sioux City hospital in serious condition.

Ross was cited for driving under suspension, no proof in insurance, willful reckless driving, and open container.

Police are still working to identify the second vehicle.
