Funeral for fallen Nebraska State Patrol Trooper will be held Thursday

The funeral for a fallen Nebraska State Patrol Trooper will be Thursday in Scottsbluff. Trooper Jerry Smith will be honored during a memorial service.

The funeral for a fallen Nebraska State Patrol Trooper will be Thursday in Scottsbluff. Trooper Jerry Smith will be honored during a memorial service.

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts and superintendent of the State Patrol Colonel John Bolduc will speak at the funeral.

A funeral procession will begin at 12:15 p.m. and travel from the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home to the Western Nebraska Community College gymnasium where the ceremony will be held.

Members of the public wishing to attend the funeral can begin arriving at WNCC at 11:30 a.m. The funeral will also be broadcast on News Channel Nebraska for those who want to honor Smith, but can't make it to the ceremony.

Smith was killed in a head-on crash in the line of duty Thursday, June 20th.
