The annual Husker Fan Day is Aug. 1 at Memorial Stadium, but not everyone will get to meet Scott Frost.

This year, the coach’s autograph line will be limited to a predetermined number of Nebraska JV Team members — the school’s kids club open to those in eighth grade and below — on a first-come, first-served basis. Each JV Team member may be accompanied in line by one adult and can have one item signed. They may also take a picture with Frost, who will be stationed inside the Osborne Athletic Complex.

Those interested in joining the JV Team can do so beginning July 1 at Huskers.com/JVTeam.

Membership costs $35 per child. Membership includes other perks, like free tickets to events and birthday gift cards to the Husker shop.

Fan Day is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All Nebraska players and assistants will be on the field seated along the west sideline. Fans are welcome to get autographs, though they are asked to limit requests to one item per player or coach.

Husker recruit Malik Reed commits to Wisconsin after weekend visit to Nebraska

One of Nebraska’s official visitors last weekend announced Tuesday his commitment to a Big Ten rival.

Chandler (Ariz.) High School linebacker Malik Reed picked Wisconsin over the Huskers, UCLA and Arizona. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Reed is part of a Badger recruiting class that may be the program’s best under Paul Chryst.

As for the Huskers, who need more inside linebacker depth, they’re still in the running for three recruits they hosted in June — Cody SimonDevyn Curtis and Choe Bryant-Strother. Simon visited Ohio State last weekend and has a final three of OSU, Nebraska and Penn State. Curtis, from the Nashville area, visited Nebraska last week before visiting Vanderbilt again. Bryant-Strother, from the Atlanta area, visited Nebraska last weekend.

“It had everything to offer,” Bryant-Strother told The World-Herald. “The people, the facilities, the education and the fan base. I am still deciding whether to make my decision before or after the season.”
