WILBER - Witness testimony continued on Friday at the Saline County Courthouse, as Aubrey Trail continues to stand trial for the murder and dismemberment of Lincoln woman Sydney Loofe.

Six witnesses took the stand Friday as the fourth day of the trial focused almost exclusively on Trail's residence in Wilber that he shared with Bailey Boswell.

The residence at 621 A West 7th St. in Wilber, is described as a ranch-style duplex - owned by Alan and Jennifer Koll.

The Kolls leased a basement apartment to Trail and Boswell. The two signed their one-year lease on June 18, 2017.

That apartment was searched by authorities for the first time on Nov. 18, 2017 - exactly five months later.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office was the first agency to search the residence after Lincoln Police informed them that the residence could be tied to Loofe's disappearance.

Deputy Tom Hudiburgh, who was heavily involved in the early searches, recalls a "strong odor of ammonia or bleach" when searching the residence on Nov. 18.

Saline County authorities seized nothing - they were searching only for occupants and found none.

Alan Koll, who built and designed the Wilber duplex in 1991, said Trail was especially interested in the property, because he wanted to move his antique dealership business closer to Lincoln.

Trail and Boswell's business was called "A and B Antiques."

Alan and Jennifer Koll lived in the upper floor of the duplex, with Jennifer's son, Dayton He, who was 20 in Nov. 2017.

Alan says he never saw Trail between Nov. 13-17 - the week Loofe was first reported missing.

Jennifer says she saw Boswell at the residence in the early afternoon of Nov. 15 with another female.

She thought it may have been Loofe, but surveillance shows that Loofe worked at the N 27th St. Menard's in Lincoln on Nov. 15 from 12-6 p.m.

The Kolls and Dayton all talked about the strong scent of bleach coming from Trail and Boswell's basement apartment.

They had never smelled bleach coming from their residence until Nov. 15-16, 2017.

Dayton recalled first smelling it late on the night of Nov. 15. The odor lingered for another 2-3 days after that.

The lengthiest testimony of the day was from Dedro Nabegh - an investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol.

He was involved in searches of Boswell and Trail's residence on Nov. 19, Nov. 22 and Dec. 19, 2017.

Numerous items were seized from the apartment over the course of those searches, including a receipt for bleach and garbage bags from Food Mesto in Wilber on Nov. 15 - the last day anyone heard anything from Loofe.

Other items taken include a tin can with drug paraphernalia, a handwritten note on how to encrypt a phone, three bleach bottles (two empty), digital scales, Viagra, mace, burner phone packaging, 17 sex toys and five lubricant bottles.

Also seized was a fitted, grey sheet off of the bed in the master bedroom. A matching flat sheet was found in rural Clay Clounty, where Loofe's remains were discovered.

Authorities also seized two vehicles - a silver Chrysler 300 and black Ford 500 - both registered under Trail's name.

Searches of those vehicles turned up two wooden clubs, a utility knife, stained blankets and sheets, a hand saw and two receipts - one from a Nebraska City Wal-Mart, and the other from a ShopKo in Plattsmouth.

Both receipts were dated Nov. 18.

The final witness Friday was Cynthia Koenig-Warnke, a crime scene investigator with the Lincoln Police Department.

She was also involved with searches on Nov. 19, 22 and Dec. 19. According to her testimony, alternate light sources and BlueStar, a blood enhancement reagent, were used during these searches.

One area of concern during these searches was the apartment living room. There were no positive tests for blood, but Koenig-Warnke said household products, such as bleach, can create "false positives" and alter test results.

There were also white, "swipe marks" found on the south wall between the kitchen and living room, but again, no positive tests for blood.

The trial resumes on Monday morning at 9 a.m. More investigators are expected to take the stand to start things off next week.
