Nebraska Reaches Out To Human Trafficking Victims and Witnesses With New Campaign
Nebraska Placing Posters At Interstate 80 Rest Areas

LINCOLN – Nebraska officials are launching a new campaign to reach both the victims and those who suspect human trafficking.
Gov. Pete Ricketts and Attorney General Doug Peterson, in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, are spreading the “When You Can’t Walk Away” message.
Nebraska’s black and white poster with bold red lettering shows a lone person walking down an alley.
The message reads both ways for people being coerced and cannot walk away from a perpetrator and for bystanders who suspect something and cannot walk away without reporting.
The poster provides the National Human Trafficking Hotline number.
The Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force has trained over 3,000 law enforcement and service providers regarding the state’s new laws to stop modern-day slavery.
The effort, which includes installing the new posters at all Interstate 80 rest areas, is inspired by the Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign.
