SILVER CREEK, NE - The National Weather Service says residents of Silver Creek are encouraged to evacuate because of flooding concerns.

A flood warning has been issued for Merrick and Nance Counties lasting until Thursday morning. The NWS says local emergency management reported flooding from Prairie Creek and Silver Creek. The Prairie Creek is predicted to rise above flood stage Tuesday afternoon.

The Weather Service says voluntary evacuations are being recommended in Silver Creek due to water backing up on the Silver Creek at the Highway 30 bridge.

The area received about four inches of rain over the last four days.
