New Look Coming to the River Near Johnson Park
The city of Norfolk will be looking a little different near Johnson Park thanks to the Riverfront Project.
The project looks to add a new walking trail near the edge of the Elkhorn river that will span from third street to the South side of Johnson park.
The minds behind the trail held an open meeting Tuesday to discuss the plans with and get opinions from the public.
John Cahill, the staff engineer on the project, values public's opinion and looks to try and incorporate what they suggest.
“We come in and ask the public, “Hey, what do you think of this project?' and they are able to give us feedback and we incorporate that in the design, before we get out there and start construction,” Cahill said.
And Cahill is excited to share the finished path with the public after all the dust from the construction settles.
“I'm happy to be a part of it,” Cahill said. “I think it's gonna be really cool to see this project finished after it's been in the works for such a long time.”
