Southeast Nebraska Thunderstorms Pack Hail

BEATRICE - While a powerful early spring blizzard pounds the plains and upper Midwest……Wednesday night, it was severe thunderstorms across a part of southeast Nebraska.
The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Gage, Jefferson, Saline, Lancaster, Johnson and Otoe Counties.
Hail accompanied the storms, with pea-sized stones falling in Beatrice on two occasions, each for about five to ten minutes…. including at radio station KWBE.
The National Weather Service received a report of half-dollar sized hail in Beatrice and near Haddam, Kansas, along with near golf ball-sized hail east of Pickrell, Nebraska.
Golf-ball sized hail also was reported at Shelton and Gibbon, while quarter-sized hail stones fell at Hastings, Kearney and Axtell.
