Pilger Woman Flown to Hospital After Crash

PILGER, NE - A rural Pilger woman is in a hospital after a single-vehicle accident Monday night.
The Stanton County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash on Highway 275 about two miles west of Pilger at 8:30 PM. Sheriff Mike Unger says an eastbound SUV driven by a 23-year-old woman left the road into a ditch, crossed over 572nd Avenue and rolled at least once before resting in a cornfield about 100 yards off the road.
Sheriff Unger says the woman was extricated from the wreckage by Pilger Fire and Rescue. She was transported to a Sioux City hospital by LifeNet medical helicopter with possible head injuries.
The highway was shut down for about 20 minutes to allow the helicopter to land.
The cause of the accident is unclear.
