BEATRICE - A student and staff project to donate to flood victims is underway in the Beatrice Public School District.

Area residents are being asked to stuff the Beatrice High School Music Department trailer full of donated items, for victims of flooding who have suffered much more than residents in the Beatrice area.

Superintendent Jason Alexander says some students at the high school came up with the idea, working with staff members.

Donation hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The band trailer is parked at the Beatrice School Administration building, and donations are accepted there until four-thirty p.m., on Thursday. Items started coming in within two hours of the district announcing the project, on Monday.

Alexander says the district contacted other school districts with past ties to Beatrice.

Among the items you can donate are water, soap, toothpaste, blankets and pillows, paper products, cleaning supplies, formula and other necessities. You can also make a cash donation inside the Beatrice school administration building, to aid flood victims.
