LEXINGTON, NE — Jurors heard opening arguments from both the prosecution and defense teams on Friday in the trial of Bailey Boswell, who is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and abandoning human remains.  She could face the death penalty if convicted.

The jury for the trial was finalized on Thursday afternoon. While court has wrapped for the week, attorneys will begin presenting evidence on Monday.

The charges against Boswell stem from the death of Sydney Loofe, who vanished after going on a date Nov. 15, 2017, with Boswell. Loofe and Boswell had initially connected on the Tinder dating app.

Loofe was reported missing the next day after she didn't show up for work. Her disappearance sparked a massive search for her, a manhunt for Trail and Boswell and ultimately to the discovery of Loofe's remains in plastic bags scattered along gravel roads in central Nebraska’s Clay County.

Aubrey Trail was convicted in Loofe's death 14 months ago in Saline County. Boswell's trial was moved to Dawson County earlier this year.
