Beatrice Educational Foundation Asking For Help
BEF is seeking funds to save the BLAST program.
The Beatrice Educational Foundation is asking for the public’s help in keeping the BLAST program operating in the school district.
BLAST — which stands for Beatrice Learning After School Time — provides safe, engaging after school enrichment for 250 local children, offering academic support, STEM activities, meals, and a supportive environment while parents work.
Following the unexpected loss of $175,000 in federal funding, the Foundation is launching an urgent community-wide fund raising campaign to keep BLAST operating through next year while sustainable, long-term funding solutions are secured.
“We believe in our community and know that Beatrice will stand up for our kids,” said Katie Humble, President of the Board of Directors for the Beatrice Educational Foundation. “We’re asking neighbors, businesses, alumni, and friends to join us now to ensure that 250 students and 21 dedicated employees are not left behind.”
The Foundation’s goal is to raise $175,000 within four weeks to avoid closure and ensure that BLAST can continue to provide vital after school care and enrichment for local families.
