GORDON, Neb. - The City of Gordon has officially named Scott Fleming as its new city manager. The Gordon City Council approved Fleming’s contract during its regular meeting Thursday night.

Fleming was previously employed by the Gordon Police Department as the school resource officer for Gordon/Rushville Public Schools. He is a Marine Corps veteran and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is also currently pursuing a master’s degree.

Fleming replaces former city manager John Reed, whose contract was terminated earlier this year by the council. City Clerk Kim Buchan had been serving as interim city manager following Reed’s departure.

Reed was hired in Sept. 2023, replacing Glen Spaugh, who retired after serving in the role since Feb. 2019.
