ALBION - On a windy Friday night in Northeast Nebraska, Boone Central showed why they belong at the top of the Class C1 rankings after shutting down Aurora 42-7.

The Cardinals and the Huskies for the first time in 2023, but both teams are very familiar with each other as of late. Just last season, the Huskies blew out the Cardinals in both the regular season on the Class C1 Semifinals - However, the roles were reversed on Friday night.

Aurora traveled in to Albion as the #4 ranked team in Class C1 this year, while Boone Central was ranked #1.

The Cardinals went three and out on the opening drive, while the Huskies drove into the redzone. Quarterback Booker Scheierman was throwing quick completions left and right before the Cardinal defense stopped the Huskies on fourth down.

Boone Central took the field and began to move the ball. Parker Borer was began his night with a 56 yard run that set up a 15 yard touchdown pass from Cardinal quarterback James Fogleman to tight end Caden Stokes.

With a 6-0 lead, the Cardinals got the ball again and let Parker Borer score his first touchdown of the night from 13 yards out, plus tacking on a two-point conversion to lead 14-0.

Aurora found a rhythm in the second quarter, converting a fourth down in the redzone and scoring a one yard touchdown with Maddox Eggert.

The Huskies had a chance to tie the game at the end of the first half, but got turned over on downs by the strong Cardinal defensive front.

Boone Central's running attack had only just begun, as the offense opened up its first possession of the third quarter and scored with Parker Borer for the second time.

Aurora had no answers while facing the Boone Central defense, getting turned over on downs once again.

Boone Central kept the foot on the gas and fed Parker Borer, who turned a run that looked to be a five yard loss into an 18-yard touchdown.

The Cardinals would score two more times, once again with Parker Borer on a 36-yard outside run and a 7-yard charge up the middle by fullback Hank Hudson.

Boone Central shut out Aurora in the second half and cruised to a 42-7 victory.

Parker Borer finished with 206 yards on 20 carries and four touchdowns for the Cardinals. James Fogleman threw for 106 yards and a touchdown. Caden Stokes hauled in six passes for 68 yards and a score.

Aurora's Booker Scheierman threw for 108 yards, while running back Maddox Eggert ran for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Boone Central moves to 2-0 and looks to stay undefeated when they take on Lakeview on Friday.

Aurora falls even to 1-1 and will attempt to rebound with another tough matchup against #2 Ashland-Greenwood.
