Brinegar winner propels Kearney past Grand Island

KEARNEY - The 2022 Central Nebraska El Clasico didn't disappoint.

In a game that endured howling winds, saw multiple lead changes, and a penalty kicks save, Nolan Brinegar's goal with under four minutes to play was the difference.

Grand Island struck first with a Moises Trochez goal in the 21st minute, but Kearney took a lead into halftime after Zach Kounovsky and Brayden Treffer each netted in a 12 second span.

Gabe Gonzales equalized for the Islanders in the 48th minute and the game remained tied until the 77th minute when Nolan Brinegar found the back of the net which proved to be the winner.
