LINCOLN, NE — In the battle of the Bulldogs in Lincoln Saturday, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family defeated Shelton for its first ever state championship. 

H/LHF won the D1 Girls bracket with a 42-34 win in the finals. After a close first quarter which saw H/LHF up 14-12, the eventual champion Bulldogs outscored Shelton 14-2 in the second to take a commanding 28-14 lead. After that, Shelton never got closer than three possessions of the lead. 

H/LHF was led by senior Addison Schneider who had 12 points in the contest while going a perfect 4-4 from the field. 

Halie Clark and Makenna Willis each had eight points to pace Shelton in the game. 

This was the first time either team had made a championship game appearance. It was Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family's fifth overall trip to the tournament and Shelton first time making it to Lincoln.
