Fremont pulls away late to down Lincoln High in Class A semifinal

LINCOLN, NE — #2 Fremont erased an early deficit to overcome #3 Lincoln High 62-42 on Wednesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The victory put the Tigers into the Class A state championship game against #5 Lincoln Southwest on Friday at 6:00 p.m. It will be Fremont’s second-straight trip to the finals.

Lincoln High was the aggressor to start the game and led 13-12 after one quarter. Fremont was able to take the lead at half thanks to a seven-point quarter from Taylor McCabe.

The Tigers separated in the third quarter. Then, despite an onslaught of threes from the Links’ J’unti Franklin, Fremont was able to hold off Lincoln High in the fourth for a comfortable win.

The Fremont victory avenges a four-point loss to Lincoln High on February 4.
