LINCOLN — Moving up a class from D1 to C2 didn’t matter for Humphrey Lindsay Holy Family, as they stormed out of the Devaney Center with a 42-40 win over Norfolk Catholic.

The Bulldogs will make it three state title appearances in four years, as they take on Grand Island Central Catholic on Saturday.

Humphrey Lindsay Holy Family came out hot in the first quarter, but Norfolk Catholic inched their way back, only being down 25-22 at the break.

The Knights would take the lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs were relentless and the battle was finished as Preston Burbach’s three-point shot to win was blocked at the buzzer.

The Bulldogs improve to 27-1 and avenge the only loss they had on the season, a three point defeat to the Knights about a month ago.

Humphrey Lindsay Holy Family was led by Jacob Sjuts 19 points in the win, with his brother, Jason, tallied 8.

In the loss, Preston Burbach finished with a solid 9 points in the losing effort.

Humphrey Lindsay Holy Family will take on GICC on Friday at 4 PM at Pinnacle Bank arena for a chance to win back to back titles and its first in class C2.

Norfolk Catholic will take on Amherst for third place at 9 AM at the Lincoln High gym tomorrow.
