LINCOLN - The #3 Kearney Catholic Stars enacted a little revenge to win their first state tournament game in 17 years.

The Stars controlled six-seed Wayne in the quarterfinals, leading throughout a 47-40 win on Tuesday.

Kearney Catholic's win avenged their quarterfinal loss to Wayne in 2021, and gave them their first win in a state tournament since 2004, when they won the Class C1 title.

The Stars will face Ashland-Greenwood in the semi-finals on Thursday.
