BEATRICE - Beatrice led from tip to buzzer en route to a 14-point victory over the Huskies.

Aurora was held to just two points in the first quarter, but Beatrice scored the first ten of the game to jump out 10-0 early. Heading into halftime, the Orangemen would match their largest lead of the game after Shelton Crawford drilled a three point jumper from the logo. It was one of three triple's he'd knock down in the game, scoring 11 total points.

Aurora would cut the lead to five at one point in the third quarter, but a quick five points to start the fourth got Beatrice a double-digit lead which they'd hold for nearly the entire rest of the game.

Beatrice was led in scoring, for the second time this season, by sophomore Crew Meints. The first year starter scored 12 points in the ball game, the second time he's hit double digit's this season -- he had a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) in the season opener against Nebraska City.

Other notables for Beatrice were Tucker Timmerman with 10 and Elliot Jurgens with 7. Dominik Salazar and Timmerman had solid play defensively in the paint, causing trouble all night for Aurora's offense.

With the 44-30 victory, Beatrice is 3-0 on the year with a date with Platteview next on the schedule. Platteview has a group of elite scorers that will present a good challenge for Clark Ribble's group.

That one is this Tuesday at the O-Zone, tipping off after the girls game. The Orangemen then face road contests against Elkhorn North and Skutt.
