SIDNEY - Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged across the majority of Nebraska and southeast Wyoming Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service issued a red flag warning from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST for the entire Nebraska Panhandle and north-central Nebraska. The warning stretches into central and northeast Nebraska, and southeast Wyoming.
West winds will be sustained at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph possible. The humidity will be at 8 to 15 percent.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
