Nebraska Extension in Madison County gives 2021 update

Madison County, Neb. -- On Monday afternoon, the Madison County Commissioners sat down with the Nebraska Extension office to hear their 2021 update.

The extension office highlighted a new hire within their department, a 4-H Youth Development Coordinator, and discussed the vacancy of their Early Childhood Extension Educator.

The extension office also recapped their year showing off the Green Leaf award that they received this year, their garden collection project, their volunteer youth, and their 5 Star Leadership Program. 

The 5 Star Leadership Program was a huge hit this year, as the senior class accomplished many things in the classroom and the community.  The class received over $650,000 in grants and scholarships and raised $1000 for a fundraiser that provided a low-income school in Costa Rica with school supplies. 

The extension office also wanted to highlight the fact that 15 of the 16 seniors were enrolled in a college or university in the fall of 2020.
