SIDNEY, NE — The Sidney School Board is temporarily down a member after one person resigned from the board.
The board approved the resignation of Matt Wallace at its meeting Monday. Superintendent Jay Ehler said during the meeting Wallace recently got a new job and his schedule presents potential conflicts with board meetings. With his attendance uncertain for future meetings, Wallace thought it was best to step down, according to Ehler.
Wallace was absent from Monday night's board meeting. He was voted onto the board in 2020 and replaced Steve Mattoon who opted not to run for another term last year.
The Sidney School Board hopes to name a replacement at its December meeting. The board voted Monday to accept applications for the position.
A committee made up of board members Brad Kennedy, Brenda Smith and Sidney Public Schools Superintendent Jay Ehler will review the applications and choose a person to nominate to the full school board.
Applications will be accepted through Nov. 30. Information on how to apply will be released by the district in the coming days.
