LINCOLN, Neb. -- On the same day that Nebraska announced it would be retaining head football coach Scott Frost, it also announced that Frost was parting ways with four assistant coaches.

Frost announced Monday afternoon that offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Matt Lubick, offensive line coach and run game coordinator Greg Austin, running backs coach Ryan Held and quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco were let go.

“I appreciate the work and sacrifices these men have made for the University of Nebraska and this football program and wish all of them well,” Frost said. “They are all men of outstanding character and good coaches, but as we strive for better consistency and execution, we needed fresh ideas and voices on our offensive staff.”

Austin and Held are both former Husker players. They each joined the Husker coaching staff at the beginning of Frost's tenure, as did Verduzco. Lubick joined the program in 2020, replacing former offensive coordinator Troy Walters, who was fired after two seasons in Lincoln. Like Held, Austin and Verduzco, Walters joined the Huskers after leading UCF to an undefeated season in 2017.

With two games left in the season, Nebraska is 3-7. The Huskers are assured of their fifth straight losing season, with the past four coming under Frost.
